MDS strengthens its Marine Insurance business with the appointment of Adrián Larrondo as Global Director

The MDS Group has appointed Adrián Larrondo as Global Director of its Marine Business, reinforcing its commitment to specialisation, support for internationalisation, and the global growth of its marine insurance operations. 

Based in Madrid, Adrián Larrondo will lead the international development of this business line. He will drive the strategy for the area, strengthen the value proposition for clients with complex and cross-border operations, and consolidate MDS’s presence in key markets across the Iberian Peninsula and Latin America. 

Adrián Larrondo brings more than three decades of international experience in the maritime and insurance sectors. Throughout his career, he has held leadership positions at leading companies such as JLT Insurance Brokers, March JLT, and Grupo CSAV, where he was responsible for insurance, claims, loss prevention, and legal advisory services across different geographies, including Europe, Latin America, and Asia-Pacific. Before joining MDS, he led his own specialised consulting firm and acted as an external agent for marine business in Latin America within the international Howden RS alliance. His profile combines a strong legal background, extensive technical expertise in marine insurance, and an international business perspective. 

His appointment is part of MDS’s vision to offer a highly specialised service, supported by a strong and multidisciplinary international team, with professionals based in Spain and Latin America, capable of supporting clients according to their geography and the nature of their risks. 

MDS’s Marine area includes professionals with extensive experience in leading maritime, insurance, legal, and financial companies, creating a differentiated structure due to its expertise and international reach. The team is composed of professionals with backgrounds in shipping companies, insurance brokerage, consulting, risk management, and specialised legal advisory, as well as top-tier insurers, enabling MDS to provide clients with technical solutions tailored to each market.

In addition to Adrián Larrondo, the team includes professionals such as María Ignacia Sáez, Senior Specialist with experience at March-Howden, JLT, and Grupo SAAM; Manuel Lezama Leguizamón, Account Director, with previous experience at Generali Global Corporate & Commercial, Lloyd’s, and specialised markets; Sergio Llopis, Senior Specialist with experience at March-Howden, Hapag-Lloyd, and Barbuss; and Santiago Mufarech, Junior Account Executive specialising in financial analysis and operational consulting.
