MDS Group announces that the late Jorge Luzzi has been nominated into the RIMS Risk Management Hall of Fame at RISKWORLD 2026 - the world's largest insurance and risk management conference, organised by the U.S. Risk and Insurance Management Society, which gathered over 10,000 risk professionals in Philadelphia this May.
The Risk Management Hall of Fame recognises practitioners who have made significant contributions to advancing the profession of Risk Management, based on criteria including innovation, leadership, and professional conduct. Luzzi’s induction reflects a career that helped define modern risk management on a global scale.
"Jorge Luzzi’s contributions to advancing the risk management profession globally were immeasurable,” said Gary A. LaBranche, CEO of RIMS.
Widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in the field, Jorge Luzzi built an exceptional career across leading global organisations, including Ciba-Geigy, Novartis, Telecom Italia Mobile, and Pirelli, where he served as Head of Global Risk Management.
A driving force behind the profession’s development, Luzzi held leadership roles in major international organisations, including the Brazilian and South American Risk Management Association, IFRIMA - International Federation of Risk and Insurance Management Associations, FERMA - Federation of European Risk Management Associations and APOGERIS, the Portuguese Association of Risk and Insurance Management.
His influence extended through MDS and the Risk Consulting Group, following his joining of MDS Group in 2013 to lead its risk consulting business, RCG – Risk Consulting Group, accelerating its international expansion across multiple continents and tripling its size within a decade. He also served in the Group’s leadership team, contributing to strategic initiatives including HighDome PCC.
He also played a key role at Brokerslink, where he championed global collaboration and knowledge-sharing, and was the driving force behind the Brokerslink Risk Managers Forum, today named after Jorge Luzzi, further contributing to his legacy in strengthening the connection between RIMS,FERMA and the global network. Brokerslink and MDS also maintain a longstanding presence at RISKWORLD, reinforcing their commitment to the global risk management community and reflecting Jorge Luzzi’s vision of international collaboration and industry engagement.
His achievements were widely recognised throughout his lifetime. In addition to this Hall of Fame honour, RIMS previously awarded him the Harry and Dorothy Goodell Award for lifetime achievement in 2002. He was named Risk Manager of the Year by ALARYS in 2000 and was recognised by the São Paulo State Legislature in 2005 for his contributions to insurance and risk management culture in Brazil.
Luzzi also made a significant contribution to the profession’s knowledge base, having written numerous articles, among which the book "The Challenges of Risk Management,” published by the MDS Group stands out, exploring the evolving role of risk managers in an increasingly complex global environment.
