Former president of the European Federation of Risk Management strengthens MDS Group in Europe

Jorge Luzzi, chairman of risk management and consulting firm, Herco, recently joined the MDS Group in Portugal.

Considered as one of the world’s leading experts in risk management, Jorge has swapped an office in Brazil for Portugal, seeking to develop the Group’s risk management business in Europe and Africa.

His role and move to Portugal enables us to extend further our risk management and consulting services, working even more closely with customers and creating opportunities for expansion in Europe and the African continent”.

Jorge will continue as president of Herco Global and in a risk management leadership role at Brokerslink, the global broking company that MDS is a shareholder of. His new role strengthens his position in strategic global risk management.

Of Italian and Swiss origin, Jorge was born in Buenos Aires in 1954 and began his career in risk management in 1971. He joined Pirelli in 1988 and in 2005, became the Group’s global risk management director. During his career he has continued to acquire new skills in the field of risk management and has been instrumental in developing the profession worldwide.

Jorge’s involvement with the sector’s associations began in Brazil, where he led the Brazilian and South American Risk Management Associations. He also presided over IFRIMA - International Federation of Risk & Insurance Management - and from October 2011 to October 2013, FERMA – Federation of European Risk Management Associations.

Among the many awards he has received are;  the notification of honour by the Congress of São Paulo for his contribution to the development of risk management in the country, the 2002 RIMS Goodell Award for Lifetime Achievement in the area of risk management and the Alarys Award for Outstanding Achievement in risk management.

Jorge has a degree in Business Administration and Economics from the University of Belgrano, a degree from ECEA and a postgraduate degree from Academia Nacional de Seguros e Previdência.
